Seasonal Themes

When planning your wedding, it’s important to take the weather and season into account. There are so many unique ideas that you can incorporate into your wedding day. We’ve rounded up our top picks for themes that will give your big day at Hillside an extra special touch!

Summer

When we think of summer, we think of bright colors, bold choices, and fun! You can give your wedding day a little extra pizazz with things like citrus drinks, an ice cream truck, or even fireworks.

Here at Hillside, we want to make all your wedding dreams come true! This means that we will help guide you with options that work well with the season. Mama’s Medicine, our in-house bar service, will work with you to create drinks that match your aesthetic and taste preferences. Citrus drinks are very popular for the summer months and the citrus theme can be incorporated throughout your decor.

Another idea is to surprise your guests with a fireworks show! Fireworks are so fun and extremely memorable for a summer wedding. This extra level of elevation on your wedding day will leave your guests excited and mesmerized. And honestly, who doesn’t love a good fireworks show?

Also, consider incorporating ice cream or popsicles into your dessert menu. On a hot summer day in Texas, everyone loves an ice-cold treat to cool off–ice cream trucks aren’t just for kids, we promise that all your guest will be lining up for their own ice cream cone!

Fall

Fall weddings at The Hillside Estate are so beautiful, when the leaves have changed color and it’s finally cooling down. They’re even more stunning when couples really lean into the season with their theme. We’ve seen just about everything, from spooky, celestial decor, to warm autumn tones throughout the entire venue.

Many couples who are getting married around Halloween choose to embrace this time of year with their linens and color scheme. Halloween themes don’t have to be all black cats and pumpkins anymore. There are many different tasteful ways to add a fun, spooky element into your day. Pictured below is a gorgeous celestial linen with seasonal cocktails that play into the couple’s dark and moody theme.

If you’re not so into a Halloween theme, we suggest taking advantage of our abundance of trees, which can be a stunning array of autumn hues in Fall. Earthy autumn colors like deep browns, warm reds, and emerald greens are great options for decor or florals.

Winter

Whether you’re a bride who is obsessed with Christmas or one who wants to lean more away from a Christmas theme, we’ve got you covered!

Our venue is absolutely gorgeous in every season, even during these colder months! While Texas doesn’t always get snow every year, we can still give you a winter wonderland through your decor and florals. For our holly jolly brides, we suggest adding lush red florals with lots of greenery. You could even hang some mistletoe for your first kiss as husband and wife!

The photo above showcases a gorgeous design with fresh and elegant seasonal touches. This drink fountain has a stunning deep red tablecloth, with greenery placed throughout the glasses. Small details can help draw the whole design together, as you can see with these unique florals and glassware.

Now if you think a Christmas theme is a little too on-the-nose, consider adding small touches throughout the venue. Cool blues and whites are really pretty for this season and they match with Hillside’s aesthetic perfectly. Even a sprinkle of dark, rich reds can elevate your winter theme without being too Christmassy. Think crisp, clean colors for an stunning seasonal look!

Spring

Spring has sprung! You have a lot of options when it comes to this season, so feel free to play with bold color schemes and designs.

To us, spring means florals, florals, florals! Don’t be afraid to mix it up and add lots of color for your big day. Some of the best designs we’ve seen often mix and match different textures and elements to create stunning florals and decor. Pastels are also very popular in this season, so think about light pinks, blues, or purples. Even add a pop of yellow or hot pink like some of the florals pictured below.

Have you considered adding some other nature elements into your wedding theme? We’ve seen it all, but we love classics incorporating butterflies and birds. Adding little touches on your wedding invitations or seating chart can take your spring decor to the next level.
